Tool Tips
For detailed work, remember the options available in the Preferences:Tool pointers dialogue, on the iconbar menu. For instance, if you find that the airbrush pointer is obscuring part of the image that you want to see, switch to a Crosshair pointer, or change its handedness (this doesn't affect the interpretation of the left/right mouse buttons). Changing either of these is instant-effect - you don't need to save the new settings permanently.
(Gripe: Photodesk doesn't provide any indication of a tool's precise 'hot-spot'; Photoshop pointers have an inverted pixel to mark this place, handy when doing precision work. This is another reason you might want to use a crosshair pointer.)
